Cold Spark Fountains for Weddings & Events in Massachusetts | DJ City
Updated: Oct 2
Cold spark fountains can add a dramatic fountain of light to a first dance, grand entrance or other planned moment. DJ City and Abcity Entertainment help you explore event effects for celebrations across Massachusetts and New England. Cold-spark availability depends on venue policy and applicable licensing, certification and permit requirements.
What Are Cold Spark Fountains?
Cold spark fountains, also called spark machines, create a fountain of bright sparks for timed event moments. The word “cold” does not mean an effect is risk-free or safe to touch. Equipment, placement and operating conditions must be reviewed before an effect is confirmed for your event.

Approval and Planning Before You Book
In Massachusetts, the State Fire Marshal says cold-spark pyrotechnics require professional licensing, certification and permitting. Venue permission alone is not a substitute for those requirements. Confirm the applicable requirements before including the effect in your plans. Read the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s guidance.
Make It Even More Magical
Cold sparks are spectacular on their own, but truly breathtaking when combined with our other effects. Pair them with LED uplighting and
Dancing on the Clouds for a first dance that looks like something out of a film.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can cold sparks be used indoors?
Do not assume an indoor venue permits cold sparks. Some venues prohibit these effects. Availability must be confirmed against venue policy, applicable fire-safety requirements and the planned setup before booking.
Will they set off smoke alarms?
No alarm-free outcome is guaranteed. The venue and responsible professionals must review the effect and the venue’s fire-safety and alarm procedures before any approved use.
How much do cold spark fountains cost?
The listed cold-spark add-on is $500, and cold sparks are included in the Elite and Luxury wedding packages when permitted. Availability is subject to venue policy and applicable approvals; any venue-specific costs are quoted separately.
Do venues allow cold sparks?
Policies vary by venue. Ask your venue about its restrictions before planning the effect, then confirm any licensing, certification and permitting requirements with the appropriate authorities. If cold sparks cannot be approved, ask DJ City about lighting alternatives.
Can I combine cold sparks with other effects?
Ask about a coordinated design with uplighting or Dancing on Clouds. Each effect must be reviewed separately for venue permission, setup requirements and any applicable approvals.
Ask About Cold Sparks for Your Event
